The Challenge
In a word, SMELL. Build a web presence that broadcasts the sweet scent of
a candle shop in the absence of smell-a-vision. Appeal to the senses--to
the relaxation and sense of well-being these wonderful, beautifully scented
candles evoke. And do it all on the opening pages using nothing but words
and pictures.
Sell high-end candles without touch, feel, sense of
heft or--SMELL. We knew the site would need an elegant look and an inovative
approach to its graphics.
This priject included logo design--a challenge in itself.
The logo needed to incorporate the scented candle feeling of the site in
a much more compact space. It had to work when printed in grey scale on a
business card or full color on high-end print advertising. Take a look at

How We Met the Challenge
We used a background
of a lady sniffing a rose to get the sense of scent into the very fabric
of the home page. To the left of that, we put an image of a woman relaxing
in a bubble bath surronunded bu candles. At this point, we don't even have
to tell you they are scneted. you can smell them.
