How We Met the Challenge
The client gave us some sketches of thoughts for their logo, so our task
there was simply to pick the one that would best fit with the page design
we had in mind, then render it artistically.
We opted for a teal and blue color scheme for the
site--colors noted by psychologists as relaxing. For the header, we started
with the sunrise (It's an East Coast company) logo and a stock photo of a
waterfall. We used photo-editing tools to extend the forest background of
the waterfall and gently blend it into the black background of the header,
letting the waterfall then jump out to the point that you can almost hear
its calming sound as you view the page. We kept both navigation and product
display simple and understated, further enhancing the restful but easily
navigated aspect of the site.
And if reading all this has left you feeling a little
tense and on edge, we've got just the place for you to find something to
help you chill out and enjoy all life has to offer. |

The Challenge

Blend the excitement needed for brisk retail sales with the serene. calming
design that speaks of what TheRelaxShop is selling.
Our assignment included both Logo design and site
development. In both cases, the output needed to develop sales tingle, but
still appeal to those seeking relaxation. The store also carries a sizable
product line with lots of diverse categories from herbal tea to exercise
bikes, massage chairs to garden fountains. Organizing all this so that a
customer could quickly drill down to just what they wanted, or browse to
their hearts content--this took some serious thought. By the time we were
done, we were ready to become TheRelaxShop.com's very first customer.
